Everything was straight forward. Make sure you get the external exclosure package so you can access your old ssd drive after you install the new the ssd.

Replaced my old 256G SSD which nearly maxed out with this item. Now I was able to upgrade to a new OS.

After two months the solid state hard drive tanked. Return window closed. Manufacturer very hard to get ahold of. Feeling let down by amazon

Extend usability of my 2012 MacBook Pro 15 from standard 256GB SSD to 1 TB. SSD This 1TB SSD is also much faster than original by Apple. Every owner of 2012 Macbook Pro (SSD Based model only) should upgrade. Too bad Apple stops making sensible machine since 2012 so any newer Macbook Pros are struck with whatever they originally purchased with impossible upgrade path. Maybe that will change in 2020 as R&D would have new leadership. If Apple could devise new sensible Macbook Pro concept. A bless and wait for new real revolution, which would be just thicker, a bit heavier but completely practical, with reliable keyboard and upgradable. A real PRO notebook. Until then, upgrading 2012 MacBook Pro is the best deal youll ever get.

Had a new Keyboard and Battery for my mid 2012 MacBook Pro Retina fitted at Mac Wave, Cape Town, South Africa (Great Service - shipped from Johannesburg on the Monday returned to me on the Thursday). Then fitted the OWC SSD 1TB (ordered from Amazon) through the OWC easy to follow video and instructions. Feel like I now have a new 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. Have to decide now whether to try a patch file to run Big Sur or to stick with Catalina.

Easy install videos on OWC site, part is faster than stock Apple and the case to repurpose the original ssd is a great idea.
