OWC 1TB Aura Pro 6G 3D NAND Flash SSD w/Envoy Pro Enclosure Compatible with 2012 to Early 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display

After two months the solid state hard drive tanked. Return window closed. Manufacturer very hard to get ahold of. Feeling let down by amazon

The instructions are minimal and I didnt see anything more on the companys website but if you are knowledgeable enough then this is a slick upgrade. Essentially you remove your old SSD from your MacBook using the provided screwdrivers and install it in the provided external case. Install the new SSD into your MacBook and close it back up. Plug the external drive into the MacBook through a Thunderbolt to USB 3 adapter in my case. Run the MacBooks Internet recovery to install a new copy of OS onto the new drive and the pick migrate after install to transfer the old data and programs onto the new drive. It all worked perfectly for me with no problems. The new drive is maybe 20% faster than the old one. With USB 3 the migration was fast for my 400GB of data at around 200-400mb/s.

I keep getting a black screen on restarts. This is either a malfunctioning item or there is another problem with it. I will return it or ask for a replacement.

Love this speedy new 1TB drive! I had the stock 512GB SSD from Apple for the last 7 years and my machine was running slow and out of space. OWC to the rescue! Install was a cinch and my laptop is faster with much more room. Thanks OWC!

I bout the 1TB. I had no idea what I was getting into buying a MacBook Pro retina. Still angry I can’t upgrade the the ram and I was running out of memory. Was ready to spend another 3k for upgrade until I found this! Had my MacBook for 8 years, this will give it 8 more! It runs the same but now I don’t worry about storage. No more portable HD’s. I can just take my laptop anywhere and have everything there.

had this item just over a year and one day no longer working. try to do system restore and reload os onto hard drive not able to mount SSD hard drive contacted seller and not response

The unit came with a link for video instructions which made the install easy as cake. Once I installed it, I used Super Duper to transfer the files from the old harddrive. Flawless.

Works great only thing is that you can’t use the accessory cable and HDD box to boot your new drive up. Other than that it’s the perfect way to repurpose your old drive and gain some serious space on your main drive.
