OWC 1TB Aura Pro 6G 3D NAND Flash SSD w/Envoy Pro Enclosure Compatible with 2012 to Early 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display

My computer came with 256GB SSD and I ran out of space. I replaced it with this 1TB drive and it was supper easy to install. I didnt expect to see such a speed increase which has given the computer a new life.

At first I had a doubt on this product since it was about $100 cheaper that its competitors. But I went ahead to order it since I could return it if not satisfied. I have had no problems so far and my HD storage problem was gone! Technical service was wonderful from a gentleman who led me step by step until it was solved with patience. This happened during the installation since I misread the instruction, I decided to call technical service. I strongly recommend this product!

Everything was straight forward. Make sure you get the external exclosure package so you can access your old ssd drive after you install the new the ssd.

I did have to file a bit of the resin off one end of the board but other than that, installation was a breeze. Required installation tools were included as well. Hopefully the drive will last a long time.

The unit came with a link for video instructions which made the install easy as cake. Once I installed it, I used Super Duper to transfer the files from the old harddrive. Flawless.

Systems hangs on 7 out of 10 times the drive is accessed. On 50% of those times, the only thing that will bring back the drive is a reboot. Buy only if you like staring at a spinning circle.

Sadly, my macbook pro version has no aftermarket RAM upgrade. But the SSD can. This kits is highly recommended and works. My macbook is like a new machine.

Now my 2013 MacBook Pro is much faster. It was easy to install but I would have liked a little more information on how to do the data transfer from my old drive to the new one. The case for the old drive is very nice. I use that drive as a Photoshop scratch disk. Im very happy.

Works great only thing is that you can’t use the accessory cable and HDD box to boot your new drive up. Other than that it’s the perfect way to repurpose your old drive and gain some serious space on your main drive.
