> 3 dayHave danced around purchasing one of these units for several years/ carpet shampooers finely bit the bullet and i should have done it two shampooers ago. Easy to assemble, easy to clean afterwards and does a fantastic job at cleaning. The only negative is its weight but that is also a positive as the weight helps keep keep the suction on the carpet were you get to suck up all the dirty water! Do not hesitate its worth the extra money and it was delivered ahead of schedule seems like the first time in a long time something arrived ahead or even on time for delivery

> 3 dayI bought this to replace my aging Rug Doctor Mighty Pro that was having performance issues due to its age (10 years old). I was hesitant because I did not have a high opinion of Bissell products because the few that I had in the past were small and cheap and did not perform very well. The Rug Doctor I had was a workhorse and I wanted something similar. The problem was the Rug Doctors pricing has gone up substantially, which caused me to look at different products. Im glad I did. I came across this product and the first thing I noticed was its appearance, which is very similar to my Rug Doctor. So I started looking into it and found a video where they did a side by side comparison with a Rug Doctor and this thing outperformed it slightly. Considering its price, I thought that was great and so I bought it. So far I have no regrets. The clean water container is smaller than the Rug Doctor (1.75 gal vs 2.5 gal) but it allows you to remove the container and fill it in the sink. This does save time from filling up one gallon containers and dumping the clean water into the Rug Doctor. Overall, the time saved by simply sitting the clean water container in the sink and letting it fill up on its own does offset the time spent filling up the clean water container more frequently due to its smaller size. As for suction, I was very impressed the first time I ran out of clean water and opened the dirty water tank to find it completely full, indicating it sucks up almost everything it injects into the carpet (this was the biggest issue I was having with my Rug Doctor as it got older). I also love the fact that it has a clean water flow indicator. This was one of the most frustrating things about the Rug Doctor because I would sometimes run out of clean water and not know it. This product has a flow spinner that lets you know when clean water is flowing. Once that stops spinning, you know youre out of water. Overall Im very happy with the product. Its had no trouble removing routine stains from pets and walking on my carpets. It allows you to go front and back while injecting the clean water and using the scrubbers (it only sucks up the water when you pull backwards, like the Rug Doctor) which is a nice added feature in case you want to have clean water injected twice before sucking it out. I havent tried the hand held spot cleaning device yet but so far everything else has worked perfectly and it only took a couple of minutes to set up once it arrived. For the price, I have no regrets whatsoever.

> 3 dayI loved my Hoover but decided rather than rent a commercial cleaner I’d just buy it and the price seemed reasonable. Did some research and the Bissell rated well. It cleans well and pulls the water out so the carpet is dry within 2 days. It will pay for itself. I’m pleased.

> 3 dayIt was the best of times. It was the worst of times. The carpets had seen better days of cleanliness. The old Hoover had died under warranty but they no longer make that model. So we had the purchase price in hand but no carpet cleaner. What to do? What to do? WHAT TO DO? Research and buy a different cleaner was the only recourse short of paying a service or renting - both so gauche and demeaning. As a self-made DIY amateur, the best bang for the buck based on good old Google searching and the fantastic fanatic reviews on amazing Amazon, led me to the BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner. The first drawback I experienced was sticker shock; I had never spent this much on a carpet cleaner before. The old favorite dead one was easily $100 less but alas it was no longer available to me - unrequited. Sticker shock be damned, on with the purchase after weeks of deliberation and ever-so-gentle prodding from my lovely wife. The order was placed. The dice was cast. Would it measure up to expectations? Would the detracting reviews be more correct? The mystery was afoot; only delivery and a test run would provide the answers. The BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner arrived. I could barely contain my excitement to unpack and test the beast. Unpacking and assembling for use was very simple. To my chagrin, in my zeal to start the test run, I failed to remove the two pieces of cardboard and the bottle of cleaning fluid stored in the recovery tank. The oversight became obvious on the run to the commode to empty the test collection. A bonehead move to be sure. How could I have completed a test run without using the provided fluid, you ask. Simple, I had other cleaning fluid on hand because I wasnt certain any came with the BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner. Despite the potential of being asked to surrender my MAN card, I admit I DO read instructions and manuals - just not all at once - and definitely not all (obviously) prior to operation. Sure enough, it was in there. So, here is the first bonus and positive point about the BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner - it comes with a small bottle of concentrated cleaning fluid - most likely enough for a once-over of several rooms. Other operational observations: The BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner delivers as described in most of the positive reviews. It does a good job cleaning the carpet. Dirty carpets will require more passes with it - the dirtier the more passes required - or perhaps more patience than I have in laying down a pre-treatment or applying the solution and waiting a bit before collecting. My carpets dried in good time; I didnt notice any excessive wet or damp spots. I measured the capacity of the dispensing and collection tanks on the BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner before use - perhaps a bit overly scientific or some might say anal. Then during use I observed that the collection level was just a little lower than what was dispensed. I am very happy with this. Multiple passes helped pick up water but only to a point. There is a small view port on top where you can observe the fluid collection; when it stops spotting youve picked up about as much as you can. On the negative side, it is a little loud. Im no audiologist but I dont think hearing protection is required. Your significant other will be able to sneak up on you while it is in operation. If you have a weak bladder or queasy bowels, appropriate adult protective garments may be in order. You can yodel, belt out opera, rock, or your favorite nursery rhymes whilst operating and probably not notice how bad or good you really are - but keep in mind that it isnt so loud as to drown out your voice so that others wont notice - they will - and they may comment. If you have thin skin keep this in mind. One must pay attention when seating the dispensing and collection tanks. Only once did I fail to do this. I almost immediately noticed the little observation port wasnt showing any incoming fluid. I stopped and checked - re-seated the tanks and went right back to work. The BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner is a tad cumbersome to move around but during operation I had no difficulties. During my initial marathon test run cleaning, my my back was negatively influenced - it started to ache. I attribute this to my extended test run time and my propensity to not take breaks. It is also cumbersome to carry up/down stairs for storage. I am an average male. Capet cleaning is my household duty; my wife has not had the opportunity to play with my toy yet. Overall, I LIKE it. Alas, I cannot love the BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner as my carpet cleaning heart love will always be with the no-longer-offered Hoover it replaced.

> 3 dayOur carpet is 13 years old. It is a very high quality dense pile plush carpet. It’s light beige and had slowly become dirty enough that I was considering replacing it. We regularly vacuum and do not wear shoes in the house. At roughly 1500 sq feet of carpet, this was going to be quite expensive if replacing, so I decided to invest in this Bissell Big Green machine. Our Hoover Steamvac never seemed to get the carpet fully clean and it no longer could remove the traffic patterns no matter how hard I tried. I had about given up and the Bissell Big Green machine was our last hope. I’m happy to say that our carpet has been brought back to “almost” new. After shampooing with this new machine, if I asked someone about our carpet I’m sure they would think it’s new. This machine is amazing! I had to erase 13 years of use, and this is my procedure. Vacuum VERY well first. There is not need to make the machine pick up stuff that you could have gotten with the vacuum! Fill the tank with hot tap water and use the recommended Bissell PRO shampoo at the recommended dose. (two cups for a full tank) I pretreat the heavily soiled areas with the Bissell spray stain pretreatment and rub it into the carpet by hand. After 5 minutes of letting that soak, I pick a section of carpet roughly 6 feet wide by 10 feet long and do one forward pass and one backward pass over that whole section with the shampoo being dispensed. I do a row forward then back, then move over and do a row and so forth. I then go back over that area only sucking up the residual shampoo/water. without dispensing more shampoo. I then repeat with a second forward and reverse pass with shampoo and another pass to suck up the residual water. I then do a third and final forward and reverse pass with shampoo followed by sucking up the residual water. By this point the carpet has typically been fully cleaned. If not, I go over any areas as needed. Typically during the second to third pass is when you really see the magic happening. Typically, on the first pass with shampoo the machine will pickup and leave many dirty carpet balls in it’s wake. This is all the crud that the brushes are pulling out of the carpet. Im not sure why my vacuum cant get this stuff, but the Green Machine pulls up stuff that you didnt know existed in your carpet. In my case, these are NOT carpet fibers, but rather small hairs, dust, etc. and they are dark gray/black clumps. Normally I can suck these back up just by passing back over them with the machine. They end up in the dirty water bucket and get poured out when emptying the bucket. The machine works wonders and I’ve been able to completely remove traffic patterns. It takes some time, but be patient. This machine is head and shoulders above your typical home use carpet shampooer. I haven’t been more happy with a purchase in quite some time. This literally saved us thousands of dollars and our carpet looks practically BRAND NEW after 13 years of use. Attached are photos of some of our carpet just before using this machine, and about ½ way through cleaning this particular room. Even if this machine puked on me today, I’ve gotten my money’s worth. Couldn’t be happier. It’s about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. I haven’t tried any of the attachment, as I already have a hand held portable upholstery/stair cleaner. Highly recommnded.

> 3 dayI am amazed (and disgusted) with what came out of my carpet. I have been buying cheap ones from Walmart for years and they do not hold a candle to the amazing job this carpet shampooer did. Worth every penny.

> 3 dayI recently went through the 3rd carpet washer (from a competitor) in less than a year. After looking at the amount of money i have spent on three carpet washers, and trying to reconcile with the fact that i was about to spend more money on another one, i decided i would try to find the absolute best carpet washer i could buy in hopes that it would last longer. The old saying by Ben Franklin of The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. seems to be true for me, so i headed to Amazon and started reading reviews of the different carpet cleaners i could buy. After reading what seemed like a million reviews, most people had such a great opinion of this washer that i decided to choke up and hit the buy button. Luckily for me, it went on sale during Prime day and i was able to save over $80 on it which made it seem like a no brainer for me so i hit the buy button. I received the washer, and took it home and got it set up. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and shedding is a big problem, plus the older dog sometimes has accidents on the carpet, so i pre cleaned the carpet as best i could by hand, and then vacuumed well with a Dyson ball in preparation before using the mean green carpet washer. After setting it up, reading the instructions and learning how to release the handle on the cleaner to fold down, i started to use the machine. At first it did not seem like it was sucking the water up very good, so i stopped and looked at the bottom of the machine, and found some protective cardboard covering the bottom, so i removed it, and tried again, and wow, what a difference it made!! The machine has the best suction out of any machine i have ever used. It seems to suck up most everything that was put down by the cleaner, and man, even though i did a thorough job with the Dyson ball traditional vacuum, this machine pulled up an AMAZING amount of hair from the carpet. My wife has long hair, and we have 2 dogs, and 3 cats that shed pretty badly. Even though we keep up with the vacuuming, and i always washed the carpets with the previous machines, this machine pulled out an AMAZING amount of hair from the carpet!! And when we dumped the water, it was disgustingly dirty!! It works differently than the other vacuum style machines we had in the past, the machine is big and square and heavy, so it takes more effort to move the cleaner across the carpet, but i think that helps with sucking the water back out of the carpet! My carpets were dry in about an hour after we used it when before it would take overnight to dry. I am very impressed so far with the results of this machine! I will update again later on after i have had it for a while, but for now, i am VERY happy with the choice i made buying this machine!! Once you see how clean your carpets are, you will not regret the purchase!

> 3 dayWe (wife & I) have owned this Big Green for a few weeks now, and I have used it three times. We owned Hoovers top of the line carpet cleaner for three years prior to this purchase. Here is a quick comparison of the Hoover to the Big Green: > The Hoover is less expen$ive. (You DO get what you pay for, though!) > The Hoover is lighter, making it easier for my wife to use. Its only good point. > Big Green picks up dirty water LOTS better than the Hoover. in a word, Big Green Sucks (in a GOOD way)! It was tedious to try and pick up all (er, most) of the water laid down for cleaning with the Hoover. This resulted in days of drying time. Not good. > The hoover has an independent cleaning solution tank (for a total of three tanks), which means you can lay down as much cleaner as you would like, and then use the clear, hot water to rinse. Big Green only has two tanks, the clean water tank (which you add cleaner to), and the dirty water tank which is where all the dirty water gets sucked into. > Big Green is much faster. Because the Hoover does not suck nearly as well as Big Green, you must go excruciatingly (painfully... agonizingly... I could go on...) slow with the Hoover to recover most of the dirty water. I can clean carpets in 1/4 the time with Big Green, compared to the Hoover, simply because it has better scrubbing action, and suction! > The reason we ended up buying a Big Green after only three years of Hoover ownership, was the roller brush drive belt was worn and about to break. I tried to buy the drive belt from Hoover, but they are out of stock. A Hoover Customer Service person told me I could not back-order the belt, and I should just try back in a month (unacceptable!). The local Hoover dealer told me the belt is no longer made (out of production), and suggested I file a warranty claim, and in his experience Hoover would simply replace the unit with a (similar) brand new one. So, lets sum up the Hoover problems: 1) Doesnt work too well in the first place (slow, and poor suction); 2) Cant order a simple replacement part; 3) Hoover lied to me about the availability / discontinued status of the drive belt. 4) We didnt feel good about contributing a perfectly functional carpet cleaner to the land-fill because of Hoovers big-corporation attitude towards streamlined profitability at the consumers expense (They dont stock parts). We donated the Hoover to Good Will. What I like about Big Green: It does a better job cleaning carpets. It is much faster at cleaning carpets. It leaves the carpet much drier, resulting in less than a day needed for the carpet to dry (typically dries in 12 hours). My tips for Big Green Users: 1) Carpet cleaning is a patience thing, and cannot be rushed. If your head is in rush mode, drop carpet cleaning and go do something else, until your head is in the game. 2) Go slow and steady. Avoid sloshing the dirty water in the dirty water tank. Bissels dirty water tank is a two-piece design, which does not seal as well as it should. If you jerk the machine around, while trying to go fast, or get around obstacles, it WILL leak out dirty water, leaving dirty water spots! Slow and steady wins the race. 3) I have been using Bissels Pet Pro Oxy Urine Eliminator formula. and it gives great results. With time, I will try other formulas, and report back. We have an older cat and white carpets (need I say more?), which is why we are big fans of any oxy type of cleaning formulas. 4) Bissell recommends two caps of formula added to a tank of hot water. I now use between a 1/2 - 1 cap of cleaner. It works just as well with less cleaner formula. I have found that too much formula leaves the carpet stiff. And... Too much cleaner left in the carpet makes it attract dirt faster. < Straight from the Hoover instruction manual. 5) I use hot tap water in the clean water tank (per Bissells instructions). We keep our hot water at 140°, at the tap. I have not experienced any problems (with Big Greens flow indicator) using 140° water. 5) I overlap my cleaning passes by 1/2 width. 6) Bissells instructions say to hold the spray trigger and go out and back (one wet pass), then release the trigger, and go out and back (one dry pass). I make one wet pass, and then two dry (vacuum only) passes. 7) Bissell instructs you to continue to make passes until the solution being pulled up appears clean. I cant tell the cleanliness of the water as it comes up, but I keep making passes (in the same area) until the carpet looks clean. 8) I now add a rinse pass. after completely cleaning the carpet, I now add clear hot water (NO cleaning solution added) to the clean water tank, and I make a rinse pass over the entire carpet The rinse pass has no (well... minimal) overlap, and I do one wet pass, followed by only one vacuum pass. The rinse goes pretty quick. If you think you did a good job cleaning the carpet with cleaning solution, wait until you see how dirty the water is from the rinse pass! Dirt never rests... Summary: Yes, Big Green is pricey, and heavy, and it has its little quirks (the dirty water tank can leak, IF you are not careful). So far, it cleans carpets better than the several carpet cleaners we have owned and rented. Would I buy it again? Yes. In a New York minute. Time is valuable to me. Even though it has its little idiosyncrasies, it is the fastest, best carpet cleaner I have ever used. Yes, you really do get what you pay for. Recommended!

> 3 dayIve owned this machine almost 3 full days. We have shampooed our living room and have started on our bedroom and dining room carpet. I really am super grossed out of how bad a carpet can get when you are a neat freak and you clean and vacuum regularly. Shampooing on the other hand will now happen more often since purchasing our own shampooer. So far I say the machine is tops! However with longevity of the machine I cant say. Let me first tell you proof is in the photos and I really am ashamed to share them however its the reality of carpet owners all over the world. Carpets get gross even when you are a clean housekeeper it just happens and even though no one wants that to be their carpet it is. Okay its recommended for this machine use by bissell and myself for good reason. Buy the Bissel Stain Pretreat in the spray bottle before you begin. I also bought the oxy boost by Bissell that is safe for all shampooers says on the bottle. Make sure to only use Bissell products in this machine. Vacuum the carpet with a clean vacuum make sure the filters are clean and take your time vacuuming. We shampooed our living room with the provided Bissell professional deep cleaning 2x ultra solution. I used a Bissell pet and spot treatment on the areas that were high traffic. After the shampooing I was super bummed. It didnt impress me at all. I thought our carpet is either ruined or this machine isnt good. And I was in the 1 star rated peoples experience category. So I called bissell and wasnt a fan of the mans statements or advice he said the pet and spot treatment is the same as the pretreat and to use it. Also said I need to shampoo the carpet a minimum of 3 times letting it nearly dry or completely dry between shampooing which I agree with that part because its been a few years since shampooing. (steam cleaning by a professional) by the way steam cleaning isnt deep cleaning. I said the pet and spot cleaner is the same thing? He said it was. I said so bissell is bottling the same thing labeling it different to scam people to buy more products. Then he changed his wording and said its a different formulation but just use what you have. Anyways I had written bissell also but hadnt heard back yet so I used my gut and went and got the pretreat before saying this machine wasnt good. I also got the oxy boost. I sprayed the pretreat over the whole carpet lightly and heavier on the high traffic area and shampooed for the 2nd time. At that point I felt the carpet was cleaner than with the professional steam cleaning. However I shampooed a 3rd and final time and it feels and looks amazing. We are very pleased and it smells great! This cleaned spots that the professional couldnt budge. We stopped at three cleanings. So when doing the dining room I have only done it one time and thats with the pretreat the deep cleaning solution and the oxy boost. We had an area we never realized was as bad as it was until the furniture was removed and Im grossed by this room. Its a pass through we have used it to sit in maybe 5 times in 4 years. Literally its not used. This room was worse than our living room which we always use. My photo is from only 1 cleaning with this solution. This proves that the products used was the answer. I am still shampooing it 2 more times before Im done. If we are removing all the furniture then we are going to make sure we do it good. The machine goes together well and is heavy but easy to use. Im a weak person and it gives me a little workout. Im sweating by the time I complete a room but it is a professional style machine. It needs to be heavy to do heavy work. My husband said it isnt heavy to him but hes stronger than me. He said feels like pushing a vacuum to him. Haha! Is it worth the money? In my opinion as of now yes as long as it holds up longevity wise. If our house was empty the cleaning would be done within a day or 2 but with furniture needing moved from room to room and energy wise this is going to take a few more days for the whole house. So with 3 days thats $90 plus tax worth if rented. Plus after all the gross stuff this picks up in a home that I know isnt a filthy home. I dont want other peoples germs brought into my home when cleaning the carpet. So far its worth it and I know what filth its sucked up. We also cleaned our throw rugs and clearly can tell it did a great job. They look strange to us cause it cleaned them to look like new different rugs. Our home is around 1400 sq ft I believe? We have 3 bedrooms, living room and dining room. I would say 3-4 bottles of 22oz pretreat would do our whole house and rugs with the high traffic areas that we have. Tips make sure to use the right products and treat the carpet as directed and take your time. If you havent shampooed in a few years shampoo let it dry repeat until the water improves averaging 1 time per year or year and a half of time not shampooed. 3 or 4 years 3 or 4 shampoos. Use hot water dont boil or microwave Pretreat (I rubbed the pretreat in with my hands on bad areas) let sit at least 5 minutes We sprayed the water moving forward we sucked going back. We stopped and moved slower across bad areas and we sucked over the wet carpet 2 more times getting as much water out of we could per each shampooing. It also shortens dry time and gives a better clean in my opinion. Let dry at least 2-3 hours with fans on them before repeating We washed each part of the machine very well each day after use. Be sure to clean around the brushed area of gunk from the carpet that collects there that will surprise you how much collects. Let completely dry before putting furniture on the carpets. Wood stain can run and metal can rust on carpet. Be patient. Its a huge job and if you dont do it often you need to give it fair time to take care of the job. Remember carpet wears just like clothes do. They may be clean but may not look new that isnt the machines fault. After shampooing and carpet is dry use your vacuum and go back over it all to lift any pieces that the deep cleaner lifts and leaves behind. Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor and the super soft fluffy clean carpet. The photo with the bay window lamp and fan is before and after 3 shampooing The water was 2nd shampooing The photo collage without the fan or lamp is the dining room before and after only 1 treatment 2 more is being done before stopping.
