SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

I installed the Samsung 850 EVO into my mid 2010 13 inch Macbook Pro and it was very simple. I did not use the Magic CD that it came with, I dont think it works for macs, just PC. I purchased the SATA USB dock and cloned my hard drive before installing the Samsung 850 EVO. I did as described based on a cnet article (http://www.cnet.com/how-to/upgrade-your-macbook-install-ssd-hard-drive/). I also used this website for a literal step-by-step visual tutorial video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8PFoZP2NAg). I also switched out my 2GB RAM cards for two 4GB RAM cards that I ordered through crucial, as cnet recommended (http://www.cnet.com/videos/upgrade-ram-on-your-macbook-pro/). I am NOT a tech-evolved individual and the process took me about 10 minutes total. My mac is now moving way faster! Hope this helps!

This is a high quality SSD. Being a first-time SSD user I was astounded at the performance this thing offers. Granted, the price is a little steep if you come from the cheap HDD market, but it is all worth it(maybe.......). Something I suggest to future buyers, BEWARE OF THE HIGHLY FLUCTUATING PRICE!!!!!!!!! I constantly check this item on Amazon and the price has always changed. When I bought my my 500gb I paid 179$ and a few days later it was marked down to 164$! Now the price is back up to 177$ at time of post. If you make a rush buy and dont wait for the price drop you will waste money you could have otherwise saved. Other than the pricing(ouch) this is the highest-quality consumer SSD on the market!

I was on the fence, I needed the speed a SSD provides but wasnt sure which brand to purchase. Im one of those people that hates to spend money. Short Version: I love it! Buy it! Long Version: The speed increase is phenomenal. I read reviews and purchased a data transfer cable first. The software was a bit confusing to start with, but that has to do with I was using Windows 10 and it wasnt fully supported yet. (More on that later). I have been using this for over a year and it has been reliable so far. Samsungs 5 year warranty is what sold me. I have tried using other computers but anything without a SSD just seems too slow. Every other computer in my house is just collecting dust. I use my work computer for everything. This drive impressed me so much I had to tell my boss about it. He is the type that saving 3 seconds every hour is 72 seconds he could be doing something else. Impressed with what I told him he has tasked me with upgrading other computers in our business to SSDs. Again I purchased another Samsung 850. This time the transition was so much easier. The software worked flawlessly with windows 10. A word of warning, if you have a pre windows 8 laptop like I did, you may run into difficulties transferring the backup partition to the new drive. Just dont move it, If you didnt create your backup CDs/DVDs before you upgraded to windows 10, you more than likely cant use it anyway, and if you did create the CDs/DVDs then you dont need it. I also had some issue the first time due to having to shrink the drive. Samsungs software did give me a little trouble but I was able to work through it. I didnt take away a star because I purchased the laptop used and think this had more to do with how it was setup before I purchased it. End result: over a year running, 2 purchased and about to buy another. YMMV.

My first SD drive. Awesome. I use with Windows 10 and its great to see the computer ready so fast to play. I have a second drive for data. This one is only for OS and photo/video editing. Installed easy and works as it should

Speeds are as good as it can get with SATA III. I highly recommend this SSD to anyone, it is the most reliable drive you can get, plus samsungs software (Samsung Magican) is great, you can benchmark your drives read and write speed plus it even helps to optimize the drive to your needs!

I got mine in Jul 2015. I have used different computers but switched that SSD between the computers. We are in September 2021 now ant it still runs great.

Put this in my ACER aspire 15 and love it. I do some things that can really eat the space, and this helps a lot. Oh, its fast, too.

I like the speed of this drive so far no problems.
