> 3 dayAn amazing deal! I have been building my own desktops for almost 20 years now. Hot Rod Pentium i7 hexacore processors in both of my existing two machines. This ssd is up and running in one of these two machines. After cloning this ssd with Acronis software, I was off to the track. All the great reviews for this Samsung are right on. It comes with a Samsung software disc, dont bother installing it. Neither the from or to fields would populate (in a perfectly set-up machine). After 5 back and fourths with their support, all I could get out of them was DUH After a few days of that frustration, I cloned the system drive on machine 2 using the Acronis software again. Smooth as silk. Most definitely, buy the 850 EVO, but, from my experience I would recommend having an alternate method of cloning other than the included software.

> 3 dayI am upgrading for a 120GB SSD that I used as my main drive for my desktop computer. Ive already had a taste for the speed of an SSD, I just couldnt really store much on it so I was in the business of getting a new, bigger drive. The Samsung EVO series is definitely the route to go. I purchased the 500GB version and absolutely love it. Plus side: Apps, games, startup time, anything loads in a breeze. Microsoft doesnt have to wait long at all Easy to install and sleek looking The Samsung SSD Utility is actually pretty helpful. I like the software a lot The bad: Nothing so far. I wish I bought the 1TB version but thats for a different day I 100% recommend getting the Samsung EVO drive it will change your life!

16-12-2024I installed this in my HP g7 notebook. The installation was a piece of cake. I used a StarTech USB 3.0 SATA hard drive connector to this SSD which came with data migration software on a CD; which I used to clone my original hard drive. I swapped out the HDD with this SDD and was up and running fairly quickly (cloning being the longest step). Now I do NOT have to do backups, and an added benefit that I had not anticipated was, the computer runs FASTER! I am fairly certain the computer will now out-live me.

> 3 dayUpgraded from smaller SSD. These are great for OS drive. If upgrading OS, look into getting third party software as Samsungs software doesnt do the deed. (You have to shell out to DOS to copy the OS, and Samsungs software does not do that.) Great drive, lousy software for copying OS.

Greater than one weekThe ssd arrived a few days ago and was anxious to try it. Under a separate order, I purchased a SATA hard drive enclosure. The goal was to increase the memory of my mid 2010 MacBook to 500 MB. The ssd came with a CD that contained the migration software from the old to new hard drive. After flailing about for more time than i care to admit and have 0% success, I found a CNET review that says the migration software only runs on Windows machines. I then connected the hard drive to a Windows 7 machine and inserted the software migration CD; it appeared as if the process might work but I terminated the process since the ssd was destined to my MacBook. Duh!! Why would Samsung not tell you that up front? At this stage, I am debating whether to send the unit back. If I get it running, I will consider upgrading my review.

Greater than one weekAll I can say is sweet! Tripled the speed of my laptop booting up and just doing regular things. Laptop was 2015 era with I5, 500 GB 7200 RPM HD so the performance increase was noticeable. Be sure to run the Magician software to optimize the SSD drive with the hardware..

> 3 daySpeedy and abundant storage space at affordable price. With Samsung Magician software, Im able to achieve R/W speed of 2.2Gbs/1.5Gbs on SATA 3 (it must be cache speed ?). The software also provide useful info such as total read/ total write, drive heath status, benchmarking, auto-optimization.

> 3 dayI have always used a HDD instead of an SSD. I bought this on sale and reinstalled my operating system and most of my programs on to it, and it has made all the difference. My boot time has gone from maybe a minute to five seconds flat. Programs load rapidly. I kept my HDD for data storage (where the SSD is not as useful) and use the SSD for all of my programs and whatever game Im playing at the time. Easy to install, easy to format, well worth the money even if it hadnt been on sale when I purchased it.
